Experiencing stress is more common than not, and unfortunately almost everyone experiences stress in one way or another these days. Most people don’t know how to manage their stress because it can be so overwhelming, but I’m here to tell you that it is easier to deal with than you think. Here are a few ways that can help you manage stress on a daily basis (or whenever you may experience it).
Exercise - Any sort of physical activity, whether it be sports, yoga, strength training, or running, will naturally cause your brain to release endorphins, this is the “feel good hormone” which essentially elevates your mood making you feel good. Exercise actually increases your energy, ultimately making you more productive when getting back to work.
Make time for yourself - This is such a simple concept but most don’t do it. Make sure you make time to do something you enjoy at least once a week. Self-care is important. Once you schedule time for yourself, you’ll find that scheduling time for others becomes less stressful.
Pets - If you have pets, spend time with them. Simply playing with a pet or petting them will help reduce stress in yourself because we often find comfort and joy by spending time with our pets.
Laughter - By laughing, we inhale more oxygen which energizes the heart and lungs and also helps to relax the muscles. Laughing will then help reduce physical and mental stress.
Valerian Root - This can be taken as a tea, tincture, or as a capsule. Valerian helps to relax and calm the body, a necessary component to help reduce physical and mental stress.
